Stories Causing Atlas to Shrug (and Maybe Giving Him Some Hope), October 28, 2014 Employment Law Edition

Shrugging:
  • We have our first case of documented 'internet addiction' and that might be an Americans With Disabilities Act covered disability.
  • After your company settles that Americans with Disabilities Act claim with an employee, the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission can still come after you and administer penalties.

Optimism Alive:
  • Being a jerk is not an Americans With Disabilities Act qualified disability (yet).
  • If a manager shows favoritism to a love interest, friend or family member, it is not discrimination, unless widespread and based on a quality such as gender, race, etc.
