New Required Notices: AB 792 California Exchange Notices Required When Coverage is Lost

Beginning January 1, 2014, Assembly Bill 792 requires health insurers to provide individuals who cease to be enrolled in individual or group coverage a notice informing them that they may be eligible for reduced-cost coverage through the Covered California health insurance exchange or no-cost coverage through Medi-Cal.
There are two versions of the notice:
  • The Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) has provided a Notice for members who cease coverage from a health maintenance organization (HMO) health plan.
  • The California Department of Insurance (CDI) has provided a Notice for insureds who cease coverage from a preferred provider organization (PPO) insurance plan. Health Net will be sending the applicable notice to members who cease coverage. It will be included with their Prior Creditable Coverage letter.
