Compliance Update: 2014 Group Health & Welfare Plan Disclosure Checklist

Employer-sponsored group health and welfare plans are under increased scrutiny by a variety of governmental agencies, including the Department of Labor (DOL), the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and Health and Human Services (HHS).

Linked is an updated 2014 Disclosure Checklist to assist our clients in meeting the varied disclosure requirements of ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA (Affordable Care Act), and other assorted federal laws.

We have outlined the basics - who, what, when, and how. Please take a moment to review these numerous requirements, including:

  • When Actions Must be Taken
  • Required Delivery Methods
  • Recipients Based on Group Size

This list is not intended to be all-inclusive, but will serve as a guide to remind your private-sector clients of their possible disclosure obligations with respect to their ERISA-covered benefits. If clients have additional questions, they can talk with their consultant and their team or confer with their individual tax advisor and/or attorney regarding their individual circumstances.
